Olly Murphy’s team approached us to design and print a new 60 page Horses in Training promotional booklet for the up coming season. They requested a luxurious feel which mirrors the brand whilst keeping the overall design light, modern, clean and easy to read. Usually produced for their annual owner’s day event, the booklet is heavily used as a promotional tool for the stable.
After an in depth briefing process, necessary images, adverts and logos were passed on and we set about conceptualising the design, focusing on multiple page content types in order to ensure that our vision was on point. The colours for every owner were researched and colourised onto a hand illustrated template, partial cut outs on images were prepared in order to give the pages a more dynamic look and missing adverts were created with the initial design taking a little over a week to get to proof stage.
Due to the page count and quantity required, a traditional litho print route was chosen, with it being a more cost effective option over digital print especially given the specialist finishing options chosen by the customer. With the booklet being rich with pictures, a 170g silk was chosen for the body of the booklet with a heavier 300g silk for the cover. The outside of the booklet received further special attention in the form of matt lamination and spot UV (localised gloss application) to pick out specific elements on the cover. The books were finished with a perfect bind, which further enhanced the premium feel of the booklets.
